Getting started
What does Flightcast do?
Flightcast brings podcast publishing, distribution, analytics and AI tools into one workspace. You can start a new show or move an existing show. Keep recording and editing in the tools that fit your production process, then prepare the finished episode in Flightcast.
Which platforms can I publish to?
Choose the destinations available and connected for your show. The main workflow supports YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and RSS-based podcast apps. Audio and video availability depends on the destination and integration. Apple HLS video requires its own setup.
You do not have to publish every episode everywhere. Review the enabled destinations for each release.
Do I have to move my hosting?
That depends on the workflow you need. Flightcast can host your podcast, and supported integrations can work with an existing host such as Megaphone. Ask support to confirm your connection path before redirecting a feed or changing hosting.
Do I need a setup call or the Chrome extension?
Follow the onboarding shown for your show. Some imports use the Flightcast extension; others use managed integrations. Assistance and setup-call options depend on the plan and migration. A universal call or browser requirement does not apply to every workflow.
Publishing and editing
Do I have to upload both audio and video?
Flightcast can create audio from a video upload. If you need a separately mastered audio version or different media for a destination, use the options available in the episode editor and check the publishing preview.
How do I publish or schedule an episode?
Create an episode, add media and metadata, and choose its destinations. Set the release date and time, then review and confirm the publication. Check the time zone displayed in the editor; a podcast can have its own configured time zone.
Processing, upload and destination availability are separate stages. Check each destination’s status and public link rather than assuming the scheduled time or a completed upload means every platform is live.
Can I customize an episode for each destination?
Supported fields can have destination-specific values. Use the available Customize controls and check which platform each override applies to. A change to the shared title, media or description may not replace an existing override.
Can I edit a live episode or replace its media?
Use the episode’s update flow and review the affected destinations. Support differs by platform and by whether Flightcast uploaded or imported the remote episode. YouTube does not support replacing an existing video file in place. A replacement can require a new video and a new URL.
Do not delete an episode or disconnect an integration just to update metadata. Ask support if the available action does not match what you intend.
Can I reuse a template?
Yes. Create a template for recurring details, then choose it when starting an episode. Review copied titles, credits, sponsor details, destinations and dates before publishing.
What does YouTube to Podcast do?
It can import or publish eligible videos from the selected YouTube playlist to the podcast destinations configured for your show. Future sync and importing the full back catalog are separate choices. Review playlist selection and any full-catalog confirmation carefully. Pro and Legend currently include YouTube to Podcast in their advertised plans.
Migration and directories
Will I need a new Apple or Spotify listing?
Usually an existing show should keep its existing listing during a hosting migration. Confirm the correct show IDs and redirect plan before changing anything. Do not create a replacement listing or delete a duplicate until support has identified the correct one.
Will all my old media and analytics transfer?
Coverage depends on the original host, accessible media, provider exports and the import that completes. Verify the episodes, media and historical periods you need before redirecting or closing the old account. Keep original files and available exports until the migration is checked.
Why did the old Spotify analytics feed stop after migration?
The reporting source can change when a show moves to Flightcast-managed distribution. Spotify activity may continue through Flightcast’s current integration while the old import stops to avoid duplicate counts.
Check the dashboard’s Spotify totals for the affected dates. Do not reconnect solely because the old series ends or Fey flags that cutoff. Contact support if current data is also missing or the migration state is unclear.
What if my show appears twice on Spotify?
Send support both Spotify show links and the current RSS feed. Keep the listings and connections unchanged while support identifies the intended show and the cause. Deleting a feed can affect the wrong listing.
Analytics and AI
Why do Flightcast and platform numbers differ?
Compare the same show, episode, time range, time zone and metric. Platforms use different counting rules and update schedules. Historical imports and current data can also have different coverage. There is no universal percentage difference that proves the numbers are correct.
Is the unique audience a deduplicated count of people across every platform?
No. Audience metrics depend on the identifiers and estimates available from each source. Adding platform-level unique audiences does not identify the same person across different platforms. Check the definition shown for the specific metric.
How quickly do analytics update?
Timing varies by source and metric. Some figures arrive after processing or after the reporting day finishes. A delay in one source does not prove a broken connection. Send support the affected metric and dates if you need coverage checked.
Can I export analytics?
Use the exports available in your analytics view. Export coverage varies by metric and view; contact support if the data you need is unavailable. Do not assume every graph or historical source has the same export format.
What does Fey do?
Fey helps answer questions about the analytics and episode information available to your account. Ask a focused question with the show, dates and metric, then check the sources and coverage behind the answer. AI output can be incomplete or mistaken, especially around source transitions.
Can AI write episode titles and descriptions?
Use the AI controls in the episode editor for supported metadata generation. Review suggestions before applying or publishing them. Transcript quality and available context affect the result.
What do AI Clips include?
Clip generation and publishing use the workflow configured for your show and available credits. Pro includes generation for one episode per month and Legend for four, with approximate output counts. Review generated clips and publishing settings before relying on automation. Do not assume every social platform or channel is connected.
Plans, ads and teams
Is each podcast billed separately?
The standard plans include one podcast each. A workspace can manage multiple shows with their own plans; Enterprise terms may differ. Unlimited team members does not mean unlimited shows or storage.
Is there a free trial or money-back guarantee?
Offers can differ. Check the offer and cancellation terms shown when you subscribe and in billing settings. Contact support about an unexpected charge or eligibility question. This FAQ does not create a refund promise or replace your accepted terms.
Can I run ads?
Flightcast supports dynamic ad insertion for eligible configured destinations. Ad delivery depends on slots, campaign settings, compatible creative and available inventory. Advanced controls and Spotify video-ad availability can depend on rollout and integration.
Does Flightcast take an advertising fee?
For programmatic demand sourced by Flightcast or its demand partners, publishers receive 90% of Net Revenue and Flightcast retains 10%. Net Revenue is collected revenue after the deductions specified in the terms. Flightcast does not retain a platform fee from publisher-direct campaigns, publisher-provided VAST tags or Spotify payouts unless separately agreed in writing. Review section 5 of the Terms of Service and the terms applicable to your show before enabling demand.
How do payouts work?
Estimated earnings are different from payable statements. Timing depends on the revenue source, provider settlement, payout eligibility and the terms accepted for your show. Check the monetization and payout screens or contact support for a specific statement.
Can I invite team members?
Yes. Invite each person with their own account and choose the access available for your workspace and shows. Ask an administrator to review permissions if a teammate cannot see or change something. Do not share your login or assume every role can publish, manage billing or view every show.
Files, integrations and support
Are uploads and storage unlimited?
No. Plans have storage allowances, and uploads must meet the application’s file and format limits. 4K upload support does not guarantee 4K playback on every destination. Keep original media backups.
Can I import media from cloud storage?
Use the cloud-storage sources offered in your upload picker. Available integrations, account permissions and file restrictions vary. A cloud picker is not a promise of a general public publishing API.
What about embeds, APIs, webhooks, private feeds or subscriber publishing?
These are separate capabilities. Availability can depend on the integration, workspace and rollout. Ask support about the exact workflow instead of relying on an older “coming soon” statement or assuming an internal API is a supported public product.
How do I leave Flightcast?
Plan the move with support before cancelling access or deleting content. Export what you need, confirm the new host can import it, and arrange the feed redirect. A new host’s ability to retain history is separate from Flightcast’s ability to export it.
Who owns my content and how is my data used?
You retain ownership of your content under the Terms of Service. Flightcast uses hosting, distribution and other service providers to operate its features. Read the Privacy Policy for processing, sharing, retention and deletion details.
Disconnecting an account, revoking provider access, deleting stored data and cancelling billing are different actions. Contact support if you need help with one of them.
How do I contact support?
Use in-app support or email support@flightcast.com. Include the show, affected episode, relevant dates and exact error. Do not send passwords or access tokens. Response and resolution times depend on the issue and your support agreement.
