Ad slots mark the breaks where Flightcast may insert ads into an episode. Each slot has a position, a maximum number of ads and permitted ad sources.
Add a slot to an episode
- Open the episode you want to edit and review its media.
- Open Ad Slots.
- Add a pre-roll, mid-roll or post-roll slot. For a mid-roll, choose the point in the episode where you want the break.
- Set the maximum number of ads allowed in that slot.
- Choose whether the slot allows dynamic ads, programmatic ads or both.
- Save the slot and confirm its position and settings in the episode's slot view.
You need permission to manage ads and an active subscription for the podcast to edit its slots.
Choose the right source
Dynamic ads are the campaign creatives you manage in Flightcast, including uploaded sponsor reads. Programmatic ads come from the ad-provider configuration used for the podcast. Allowing both makes both sources eligible, subject to the campaign and provider rules.
The maximum number of ads describes the capacity of the break. It is separate from a listener frequency cap and does not guarantee that every position will fill.
Creating a slot does not activate a campaign. To deliver a campaign ad, check that the campaign is active, within its dates, correctly targeted and using a ready creative that matches the slot. The show's monetization settings must also allow delivery.
Reuse defaults for new episodes
To add recurring pre-roll and post-roll slots, open the podcast's Settings → Monetization → Default Ad Slots in Flightcast. Enable the desired breaks, set the counts and sources, and save.
These defaults apply to newly created episodes. They do not automatically update existing episodes, and mid-roll points should be reviewed for each episode's content.
If advanced placement controls are enabled for your account, you can configure individual positions within a break. Use the controls available to your account and review the resulting layout before saving.
