How to Block Certain Types of Ads From Playing in Your Podcast

Use blocked ad categories to restrict the kinds of programmatic ads requested for your podcast. Review the selections alongside the provider configuration used by the show.

Choose the categories to block

  1. Open your podcast's Settings → Monetization.
  2. Find Blocked Ad Categories and open the category selector.
  3. Search or browse for the topics you want to exclude. Review the available detailed categories as well as broader categories.
  4. Select the relevant categories or subcategories.
  5. Save, then review the saved selections for the podcast.

Choose the scope you intend to block. A broad category may cover more material than a specific subcategory. If the topic you need is absent, check the other category lists available in the picker before assuming it cannot be configured.

Understand the scope

Podcast-level blocks combine with blocks on the ad-provider configuration. Removing a block from the podcast does not remove an equivalent block that is still set on the provider configuration.

Blocking depends on the provider's supported controls and ad metadata. It reduces the risk of unwanted programmatic ads, but it cannot guarantee that a selected category will never appear.

These settings do not remove a sponsorship already recorded into your episode. Review your own campaign creatives separately, and use the relevant platform's controls for ads supplied outside Flightcast's programmatic delivery.

Report an unexpected ad

If an unwanted ad plays after you save the settings, note the podcast, episode, listening app, approximate playback time and advertiser or category. Check that the intended block is still selected and identify the programmatic provider assigned to that roll type.

Send those details to . This gives the team a specific delivery to investigate rather than relying only on the category label.
