A chapter placeholder lets you insert an episode's chapter list into its description without typing the list twice. The placeholder and the chapter entries are separate.
Prepare the chapter list
- Open the episode and find Chapters.
- Add a timestamp and name for each chapter, or review generated chapters when transcript-based generation is available.
- Check the timestamps against the media. If audio and video have different edits, review their timing separately.
Place the chapters in a description
Put the cursor where the list should appear, then choose Insert Chapters Placeholder from the description toolbar when that control is available. Flightcast inserts the exact [FLIGHTCAST_CHAPTERS] marker. Keep it where you want the formatted list to appear; do not add a duplicate if one is already present.
Flightcast replaces this exact marker when preparing a supported destination description. Without the marker, the description is not automatically changed to include the chapter list. If there are no chapter entries, the marker is removed.
You can add a short label such as “Chapters” above the marker. A marker without a completed chapter list is not a finished set of chapters.
Review destination-specific versions
Use the main chapter list by default. Where the editor offers per-destination overrides, use only the connected destinations shown as available. A disabled or empty override uses the Main chapters. These overrides are for supported title, description and chapter fields; they do not guarantee that a destination will display native clickable chapters.
If you use a customized description for an audio or other destination, check that description separately. A marker in the main description does not automatically appear in every customized version.
Review the published result
For a draft, complete the episode's publication review and confirmation. For live or scheduled content, save the working changes and use Review Changes → Publish Edits where those actions are available.
Check each affected destination's preview before confirming. Saving the description alone does not make the change live. After delivery, open the destination and check the chapter text and timing.
For YouTube's manual chapters, follow YouTube's current chapter requirements, including the required starting timestamp, ascending timestamps and minimum chapter duration. A formatted description does not guarantee identical clickable behavior in every app.
