How to Set Default Podcast Ad Slots For All New Episodes

Default ad slots set the breaks available to fill on new episodes. You can save pre-roll and post-roll defaults for episodes created afterward; changing these defaults does not by itself change your existing episodes.

Set defaults for new episodes

  1. Open the podcast's Settings and go to Monetization.
  2. Find Default Ad Slots.
  3. Enable pre-roll, post-roll, or both. Pre-roll is before the main episode content; post-roll is after it.
  4. Set the maximum number of ads allowed in each enabled break and choose which ad sources may fill it.
  5. Save the settings, then check the Ad Slots view on a newly created episode before publishing.

Dynamic ads are campaigns managed in Flightcast. Programmatic ads come from the ad-provider configuration assigned to the podcast. Enabling a source allows it to fill a matching break when an eligible ad is available. The maximum is capacity, not a promise that every position will fill, and it is separate from a campaign frequency cap.

Apply a layout to existing episodes

Applying a layout to existing episodes is a separate action. If your account offers it, review the action's scope and preview before confirming. It can increase the number of ad seats on existing slots, change their position layout, and add missing slots to episodes in scope. Saving defaults alone does not do this.

Add mid-roll breaks separately at the points where you want them within an episode. Controls can vary by account and editor; follow the settings shown for your podcast.
