Set up a campaign and compatible episode ad slots so Flightcast can choose an eligible ad when an episode is requested. You will need permission to manage ads and an active subscription for the podcast when editing its slots.
Check that you’re in the team that owns the show. If Ads is unavailable, ask a workspace owner to check your access and show setup.
1. Prepare the episode slots
Open an episode's Ad Slots settings and add the breaks you want to offer:
- Pre-roll: before the episode.
- Mid-roll: at a chosen point during the episode.
- Post-roll: after the episode.
Set the maximum ads in each break and allow the intended source: your dynamic campaign ads, programmatic ads or both. A slot makes space available; it does not guarantee that an ad will fill it.
2. Create the campaign
Open Ads and create a campaign. Add or select the advertiser, give the campaign a clear name and review its dates, delivery goal and priority.
Select the podcasts and targeting that match your agreement. Geographic controls support locations such as countries, regions, cities and postal codes, subject to destination support and available location signals. New or changed postal targeting needs a country and at least one postal code.
Use episode exclusions to keep the campaign off particular episodes. Advanced inclusion lists, title rules and frequency caps are separate capabilities and may not be available in your account.
3. Add the creative
Add an ad to the campaign, choose its supported format and roll type, and upload a compatible file. Review any processing errors and the campaign's available creative limits. There is no universal one-ad-of-each-type rule across all campaign configurations.
If you add ad-level geographic targeting, keep it consistent with the campaign's targeting. An ad-level setting cannot make an otherwise ineligible campaign eligible.
4. Activate and check delivery
Before activation, check the show monetization setting, dates, targeting, creative readiness and matching slot permissions. Activate the campaign and save when it is ready to run.
Review campaign delivery after launch. Pacing uses the goal and dates to guide selection, but it does not guarantee completion by the deadline or an exact stop at the target. A campaign may also be temporarily ineligible when it is ahead of pace.
5. Set defaults for future episodes
For recurring pre-roll and post-roll breaks, open the podcast's Settings → Monetization → Default Ad Slots. Save the desired counts and permitted sources, then check them on the next newly created episode. Review existing episodes separately.
