Unpublish an episode in Flightcast

Unpublishing can affect public links, schedules and copies stored by a destination. Read the platform-specific warning before confirming.

Choose the scope

  1. Open the correct episode and its publishing controls.
  2. For one destination, use that destination's unpublish control. In editors that use a platform switch, turning it off opens a confirmation to review.
  3. For a broader change, use the episode's Unpublish action and inspect the destinations listed before confirming.
  4. Confirm only when the scope matches what you want removed.

Controls and labels can differ between older episodes and the newer editor. If no clear confirmation appears, stop and check the available action before proceeding.

Understand the destination effects

RSS: The episode is withdrawn from the feed. Podcast apps may retain downloaded copies or take time to refresh. Disabling RSS also removes the episode's Apple HLS attachment; Apple video follows RSS and cannot be unpublished independently.

Flightcast-managed YouTube: The managed withdrawal makes the video private and unlinks it from the episode. Check YouTube Studio to verify visibility and any schedule.

Imported YouTube: The original video is left unchanged on YouTube and unlinked in Flightcast. If Flightcast manages a pending schedule, unpublishing cancels that schedule where applicable. A schedule changed outside Flightcast is not automatically overwritten. Do not assume an imported public video has become private.

Spotify Distribution: The remote Spotify episode is deleted while the Flightcast distribution row is retained as a draft. Publishing again creates a new remote episode. Legacy Spotify (OAuth) and Megaphone: The remote episode is returned to draft. The exact behavior depends on the connection your show uses; do not assume an old link, plays or analytics will be preserved.

Verify before taking another action

Check the resulting Flightcast status and the destination itself. If a removal or schedule change is uncertain, ask support to reconcile it before repeating the action, re-uploading or republishing.

To publish again later, review the media, intended destinations and dates, then complete the publication review and confirmation. Republishing may create a new remote item; it is not a guarantee that previous links, views or analytics will carry over.
