Set up YouTube to Podcast Sync

YouTube to Podcast Sync can turn eligible videos from your linked podcast playlist into podcast episodes. Start by choosing the playlist and deciding whether to include older episodes.

Check the setup

  1. Select the podcast and open Podcast Settings → Integrations.
  2. Check that the correct YouTube account and podcast playlist are connected. Setup may let you connect an existing playlist or create a Flightcast playlist from selected source playlists or channel uploads.
  3. Check that the show has a working Spotify publishing connection. The setup can vary between legacy Spotify, Megaphone and Spotify Distribution.
  4. Make sure your subscription is active and you have permission to publish. YouTube to Podcast is listed with the Pro and Legend plans; check your account’s current plan and available settings before enabling it.

Use the playlist-change control if you need to change the selection. Disconnecting YouTube is not a routine prerequisite.

Keep the linked playlist limited to content you intend to distribute. Do not rely on a video’s private or unlisted status to prevent it from syncing; filtering differs across setup paths. Ask support to check your setup if the playlist contains content that must stay private.

Choose which episodes to include

  • Full catalog: includes existing and future eligible videos in the linked playlist. Review the scope carefully before starting a large back-catalog import.
  • Going forward: starts from the date and time sync is enabled, using each video’s recorded publish date. Adding an older video to the playlist later does not necessarily make it a new episode for this setting.

If full-catalog syncing is enabled, it includes older eligible videos even when going-forward syncing is also enabled. If your setup offers a backlog release pace, those older videos follow that pace rather than all appearing immediately.

Review the preview, check the destinations and episode scope, then complete the final confirmation. Enabling sync queues work; it does not mean the entire catalog is already live.

Check progress

The sync settings describe checks every six hours, or four times daily. Enabling a setting also requests a check. This cadence is separate from playlist import, media preparation, analytics refresh and publishing on each destination.

Look at the episode and destination statuses after setup. Allow time for processing, and confirm the resulting episodes on the intended platforms. If content is missing, check the linked playlist and the chosen catalog scope before changing connections.
